Remember Darkwing Duck? Man, as a kid it was always advertised and I wanted to see it so bad. The way he stood there so cool with his cape flapping in the wind. I don’t remember much about it, but I remember finally seeing it and being disappointed, you know, kinda how you felt when you saw Star Wars 1-3.
Which makes me realize, that has gone from being a mere disappointment, to being the quintessence of movie anticipation and let-down. If someone has not already said it, it will someday be said, when someone who once accomplished great things, and irreversibly changed their respective field to great acclaim, then uses and changes that same beautiful invention to discredit, disappoint, and disparage (I’m really ‘dis’ing him now), that person will have pulled a “Lucas”.
And with that, bedtime.

When it comes to Disney Afternoon shows, you’ve gotta go with Talespin. The other shows I like because of nostalgia, but Talespin (and certain episodes of Ducktales) were the only ones I really liked from the perspective of an adult. Darkwing just didn’t cut it.
Okay, Talespin was cool. But it had Baloo in it, how could it help, and he flew a plane, that landed on water.
I’m guessing Rescue Rangers isn’t nearly as good as I thought it was then. I liked Ducktales, till they were all reruns.
I realize that it’s not Disney, but honestly, Animaniacs overshadowed everything in after school cartoons, especially that farce they call Tiny Toons(even though it did introduce me to “They might be Giants”.
I haven’t watched many of these cartoons in a LONG time, but as a kid Ducktales, Talespin, Rescue Rangers, and Darkwing were big favorites! Maybe I won’t go back and watch them, just so they can stay cool in my mind.
