So the other day I tried something similar.  I attempted to use the word ‘parsimoniously’ in a sentence.  The only problem was that I’d only seen the word written and had never heard it pronounced.  Naturally, I pronounced it wrong.  While two people in the meeting were impressed, a third felt duty-bound to announce that he was an English Minor and pronounce the word correctly.  The other people looked at me, expecting embarrassment, but I was frankly thrilled to be corrected.  Now I’ll get it right next time!
